Today I was contacted by a fellow blogger and she told me that I was a No Reply Blogger. I was like... huh.. what the heck does that mean. What is a "No Reply Blogger"? It means that every time I left a comment or a question on someones blog they couldn't respond to me. And to think, I thought I was just being ignored, I was so NOT popular and nobody liked me... (LoL). I'm so glad I was wrong!
I promise I am not anti-social... In fact it's quite the opposite. I talk probably a bit too much. I love getting to know people and making new friends! So of course I am thrilled that I was able to fix this problem.
I'm not sure exactly when or how it happened. I think the problem goes back to when Google Plus was introduced. It somehow changed some of the settings on my blog. I stopped using Google Plus awhile back, but I didn't realize that some of my original settings on my Google account were changed.
I figure that I'm probably not the only one with this problem, so I thought I'd let all of you Blogger users how you too can fix it.
The problem is in the User Profile on Blogger. Where it says "show my email address", this box was not checked which made me a no reply blogger. I had my email address on my profile, it was just the box not being checked that made people unable to reply to me. When someone would try to respond to my comments via their blog they got a message saying "No Reply Blogger". So apparently I was being anti-social without even knowing it. I'm really nice, I promise and now that it is fixed I hope to talk to many more of you.
Fixing the problem is actually quite easy once you know how...
Here is an easy 5 step tutorial on how to fix it so people can reply to you...
That is it. If you followed these simple steps, the problem is fixed :)
Blessings,
Diana
So nice of you to show everybody how to fix this! It also happened to me when I started blogging and I had the word verification on. Did NOT get a comment or email for weeks until another nice blogger told me about it. Actually, I get many non-reply comments every week and, when possible, I try to let them know. I am glad yours is fixed and I hope you start getting lots and lots of comments and emails back! :)
ReplyDeleteThank you for this great tutorial Diana. Very helpful...
DeleteThank you Diana! My friend Jade and I just started blogging, and have been writing on blogs and falling in love with this whole experience... but we feel like nobody likes our concept or what we have to say. Maybe its because we were no reply bloggers. :( I have changed it and hope for the best!
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing!
Megan (www.girlsenville.com)
Hey Megan... I am replying to you :) So now you can see if it works. I will pop over to your blog and start following you. I wish you the best of luck in your blogging endeavors!
DeleteBlessings,
Diana
Thanks for this info! However, I had fixed this before, but I just linked up to google + and now I'm paranoid I have gone back to being a no reply blogger....the settings are all different! Am I showing up on your blog as a no reply blogger? Thanks,
ReplyDeleteRachel. It looks like you are okay. It is letting me respond to you. If you receive a copy of this in your email then for sure you're fine. I don't know why it effects some accounts and not others. But it does.
DeleteIf you decide you don't want to use Google+ on your blog and want to revert back to your old Blogger profile, it is an easy fix. At the top right side on your blogger dashboard there is a toggle button that looks sort of like a GEAR or a FLOWER. If you click on that, you will see an option that says "Revert to Blogger Profile". Click on "revert" and it will take you back to your original Blogger profile and settings.
I hope that helps... Blessings, Diana
Thanks for this great tutorial Diana! I'm going to share it on my FB page because I find so many people are no-reply bloggers when I try to reply to their lovely comments. Question though, (I'm still trying to figure out some of this blogging stuff!) when you reply on your blog to someone's comment does it automatically email the person if they are not a no-reply blogger or do you have to reply by email (and on the blog if you want others to see the response). Thanks!
ReplyDeleteI think it automatically replies to their email, however I am not positive. I sure hope it does. I have always just responded here in this reply section and I assumed they got the response.
DeleteI am only responding to you from here (the reply box). If you received the response via email then that is the case. However, If you do not receive an email response, please let me know. Then we will know for sure. I hope that makes sense :)
Blessings,
Diana
Hilda, I decided to send you an email from my email account but you are a no-reply blogger yourself, so I'm not sure if you will even see this. Let me know.
DeleteDiana
It's so funny but someone just left a comment saying I was a no reply blogger. Then I went to your blog and would you believe your post was about fixing the no reply problem???!!! Is this fortuitous or what? Wow. Thank you for that. I fixed it. I think. Linda
ReplyDeleteThat is awesome... I hope it is fixed now. Let me know if you received this :)
DeleteBlessings,
Diana
I'm a no reply commentor but not by choice. My blog is connected to google+ and I have looked everwhere to try and find how to change my settings. I don't want to revert back to blogger, so I am just stuck, I guess.
ReplyDeleteRobyn from http://www.robynsview.com
Unfortunately reverting back your Blogger profile is the only way I know how to fix the problem. Maybe if you complain the Google+ people they can tell you a way, or get the problem fixed. Best of luck!
DeleteBlessings,
Diana
My blog is connected to my google+ and I can't figure out how to change the settings in it, so that I wouldn't be a no reply commentor. I don't want to revert back, so I am just stuck.
ReplyDeleteRobyn from http://www.robynsview.com
Gorgeous, clear, illustrated directions - you are a genius! Thank you!
ReplyDeleteThanks for this. Googled 'No reply blogger' and got here- love the site. L

ReplyDeleteThis is the best! Thank you! I have tracked down plenty of "no-reply" bloggers and am always glad when I find them. I mostly blame google plus these days. I quit using it too because it kept making me a "no-reply" blogger. Do you know if anyone ever found a fix for this? I think google plus could fix it if they wanted to...not sure why they don't. I know that google plus is really taking off.....because I have more "no-reply" bloggers than ever now. I would love it if you let me post a link to this on my side bar.
ReplyDeleteI so appreciate this info - thank you :)
ReplyDeleteTHANK YOU!! I believe I got the problem fixed now ... all thanks to you! ;)

ReplyDeleteJust got told today that I am a no-reply blogger and I have word verification on! A double no-no. Thanks for sharing this information.
ReplyDeleteI was just told the same thing today and google it, and this page was the first response. Thank you SO much! I, too, had wondered why no one responded! LOL
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for this! I thought everyone just hated me :P
ReplyDeleteThank you ! Just found out I had this problem thanks to Maria http://miacreates.blogspot.com/
ReplyDeleteI hope I have fixed it ! I get by with a little help from my CYBER friends! ;)
Thanks for the information!! While I was here I snooped around some. I like your white tile in kitchen. Hubby and I were just talking about this type of tile for our vanity top. It may not be recommended for counters because it may get a little dull from wear, but I don't think it would bother us. I think I found it online at Home Depot. BTW, my hubby "will not" be reading about your tiling experience....ha...
ReplyDeleteThank you!! I hd exactly that problem. You are a life saver x)

Thank you very much! :D
ReplyDeleteI just had another blogger tell me that I was no-reply today, and I was kind of horrified - it was like I had had my fly unzipped all day or something! So, thanks SO MUCH for relieving me of that feeling! You're the best.

ReplyDeleteThank you so much! I just followed your instructions and hopefully it will fix the problem! Another blogger had told me I was a no-reply blogger, but I didn't understand what that meant or how to fix it! Thank you for posting this! I'll be blogging about this and sharing your link, as well as putting on my header, if that's ok? Thank you so much!
ReplyDeleteYay, it worked. I can see your name. When you are a no reply, it comes up as anonomys (no name). Yes you may share the link :)
